T2 (1-10-0) will match up against the Real Monarchs (3-7-1) for the first and only time this season. The Monarchs enter Wednesday’s contest following a 2-0 home loss to New Mexico United on September 12, their fifth loss in seven matches dating back to August 15. Real Monarchs sit in third place in Group C’s standings, eleven points behind second place El Paso Locomotive FC. Taylor Peay and Kyle Coffee lead the team with two goals scored, while Dayonn Harris and Noah Powder added three assists apiece to lead the club.

Portland is coming off their best performance of the season, defeating the Tacoma Defiance 3-0 on September 9 at Providence Park. T2 dominated from the start with three goals in the first 24 minutes of the match. After missing the last three matches with an injury, midfielder Jorge Gonzalez tallied his first career brace and is now T2’s leading scorer with four goals. Forward Giovanni Calixtro recorded his first goal and assist during the contest. Calixtro’s score was also T2’s first goal on a penalty kick. Aaron Molloy assisted on Gonzalez’s first score earning his first assist of the season. Goalkeeper Jake Leeker finished with four saves, helping Portland earn its first clean sheet of the season. Leeker’s performance also earned him a spot as a reserve on the USL Championship Team of the Week. T2 head coach Cameron Knowles was pleased with how his team bounced back against a tough loss against Reno stating, “We talked a lot in the locker room after the Reno game. Obviously, it was a very difficult result. We had a few good meetings with the guys this week and talked about how that match was a bit of an anomaly. We had a real good spirit about us leading into the match against Tacoma and it helped lead to a great result.”

Following tomorrow’s match, T2 will face Reno 1868 FC on September 20 at Providence Park; kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (Pacific), and the match will be available on ESPN+.
