Portland, OR – In their first of back-to-back home matches, T2 will face the Tacoma Defiance tonight at Providence Park; kickoff is schedule for 7 p.m. (Pacific). The match will be available on ESPN+ at ESPN.com/watch/espn.
T2 (0-10-0) will go up against the Tacoma Defiance (2-6-1) for the third time this season. Tacoma enters Wednesday’s match following a four-game losing streak dating back to August 8. The match against T2 will be the first of two consecutive games against Portland, after their August 30 match was rescheduled. The Defiance are currently ranked third place in Group A of the USL Championship and will play four more away matches before returning to Cheney Stadium to host T2 on September 27. Alec Diaz leads the team in goals scored (4) in seven appearances, while three different players have added two assists each in 2020. Goalkeeper Christian Herrera has logged two shutouts on the season.
Portland will look to bounce back tonight after their 7-1 loss to Reno 1868 FC on September 5. Midfielder Dyson Clapier found the back of the net for his second score of the season, connecting in back-to-back matches. Salvador Villegas Jr. logged his first assist of the season on the play. T2 head coach Cameron Knowles weighed in on the match against Tacoma tonight, “The Reno match aside we have had some encouraging performances recently, despite being on the wrong side of the results. We need to get the guys turned around physically and mentally and focus on the first match against Tacoma. These rivalry games always have a bit more to them, and we will be up for the fight.”
Following tomorrow’s match, T2 will face the Tacoma Defiance again on September 12 at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific), and the match will be available on ESPN+.
