Portland, OR – Heading into their tenth USL Championship season match, T2 will face Reno 1868 FC on September 5 at Greater Nevada Field; kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (Pacific). The match will be available on ESPN+ at ESPN.com/watch/espn.
T2 (0-9-0) will face Reno 1868 FC (7-2-0) for the third time this season on Saturday. Reno sits at the top of Group A of the USL Championship. Portland came up short in their first two matches against Reno on July 29 and August 15. However, T2 has gained momentum since their last meeting and nearly forced a decision against Sacramento Republic FC on September 2. Corey Hertzog and Foster Langsdorf lead Reno in goals scored (4 each) and both have appeared in nine matches. Christian Francois is the team leader in assists (4) in nine appearances. The clubs will face each other one more time on September 20.
In their last match, Portland held off the Sacramento attack until the 87th minute. T2 quickly bounced back when midfielder Dyson Clapier found the back of the net in the second minute of stoppage time to tie the match. This was Clapier’s first score of the season and Max Ornstil logged his first assist on the play. Sacramento regained the lead in the final seconds of the match. Third year head coach Cameron Knowles was pleased with the fight and desire of his team stating, “It's clearly the best performance we have put together across 90 minutes. The guys did an incredible job after going down to get themselves back in the game.” Knowles went on to discuss the upcoming match against Reno, “That's a tough team… They're a very good team and they have a lot of experience, but I think if we go out and play and compete like this, we can certainly put them to the test.“
Following tomorrow’s match, T2 will face the Tacoma Defiance on September 9 at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific), and the match will be available on ESPN+.
