T2 (0-8-0) will face Sacramento Republic FC (5-1-3) for the third time this season on Wednesday. Sacramento sits in second place in Group A of the USL Championship season. T2 has come close in their first two matches against Republic FC, losing both contests by one goal. In their last match on August 22, T2 jumped out to their first lead of the season when Jorge Gonzalez Asensi punched his ticket midway through the first half, and the lead would hold for nearly 40 minutes of play. Darius Formella leads Sacramento in goals scored (4) in eight appearances, while Jordan McCrary added two assists. Rafael Diaz and Adam Grinwis platoon at goalkeeper, with Diaz leading in saves (13), only allowing two goals in five appearances. The clubs will face each other one more time on October 3 at Papa Murphy’s Park.
After a back and forth battle in their last match against LA Galaxy II, T2 will look for their first win of the season tomorrow. Entering the second half, T2 was trailing Galaxy II 1-0 when Max Ornstil headed the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Carlos Anguiano tallied an assist in consecutive matches with the service from the corner. In the final minutes of the match, Aaron Molloy opened his account for the 2020 season, scoring his first goal as a pro. Marcus Epps logged his first assist of the season on the play.
Following tomorrow’s match, T2 will face Reno 1868 FC on September 5 at Greater Nevada Field; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific), and the match will be available on ESPN+.
