Phoenix, AZ – T2 will open the 2020 USL Championship Season on the road against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, March 7, at Casino Arizona Field; kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (Pacific), and the match will be available on ESPN+ at ESPN.com/watch/espnplus.
The match on Saturday marks the first of two matches scheduled between T2 and the Phoenix Rising during the 2020 season, as both teams will meet July 26 at T2’s new venue Hillsboro Stadium beginning 12 p.m. (Pacific). Phoenix Rising bested T-2 in two high scoring matchups in the 2019 season, winning the first at Casino Arizona Field 4-2 and again at Providence Park 5-3.
Led by third-year head coach Cameron Knowles, T2 will begin their sixth season after ending the 2019 campaign with a 10-16-8 record. Players returning from the 2019 season include midfielderCarlos Anguiano, defenders Harold Hanson and Max Ornstil, and goalkeeper Jake Leeker. Additionally, star forwards Ryan Sierakowski and Gio Calixtro are returning for T2, Sierakowski leads all T2 returners with goals last season and Calixtro became the youngest player in franchise history to record a goal (17 years, 25 days).
Phoenix Rising FC won the 2019 regular season championship and set league records for wins and points, including a 20-game winning streak. Returning for Rising FC is the 2019 USL Championship MVP Solomon Asante who led the team in goals, assists, and chances created.
Following their USL regular-season opener against Phoenix Rising FC, T2 will travel on the road to El Paso on Saturday, March 14, at Southwest University Park; kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (Pacific).
