Clint Dempsey returned to Sounders training on Wednesday, according to multiple reports out of Seattle.
The Sounders confirmed the news later on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sounders announced on Aug. 26 that Dempsey was undergoing medical evaluations for an irregular heartbeat. The 33-year-old US international missed Seattleās draw at Houston on Aug. 24, their loss at Portland on Aug. 28 and their 1-1 draw at San Jose last Saturday while undergoing evaluations.
Matt Pentz of The Seattle Times reported on Wednesday that Dempsey has been dealing with health concerns related to his heart issue throughout the 2016 season, and that the issue came to a head following the Soundersā home win against the Timbers on Aug. 21.
Currently in his fourth season in Seattle, Dempsey has eight goals and two assists in 17 MLS matches this year.
Sounders interim head coach Brian Schmetzer and GM Garth Lagerwey are expected to speak with reporters about Dempseyās return and his status for Seattleās match against Vancouver on Saturday (4 pm ET; MLS LIVE in the US, TSN1, RDS2 in Canada) following Wednesdayās training session.
